Independent MP Dr Monique Ryan wants a House Health Committee inquiry into telehealth prescribing and unapproved peptides after the Norton coroner's finding.

Independent MP Dr Monique Ryan has renewed her call for a parliamentary inquiry after the coroner's finding on Richard Norton's death. Retail Pharmacy Magazine reported on 4 November 2026 that she wants the Government to refer telehealth and online prescribing to the House Health Committee.
She says she wrote to the Health Minister in August asking for the referral, and that the finding makes it urgent: "His death should be a turning point." Her argument is about who regulates what: "The TGA regulates products; AHPRA regulates individual doctors, and nobody regulates the business models driving this market."
Her proposed scope, as reported:
The report quotes no government response and no pharmacy body. The TGA's own peptides review is a separate process. The coroner's finding is the trigger for both.
