Epitalon (also written Epithalon or Epithalamin) is a synthetic tetrapeptide — Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly — developed as a synthetic analogue of epithalamin, a peptide extract of the pineal gland. Its short four-residue sequence makes it one of the simplest peptides in the research catalogue.
Epitalon appears in the literature chiefly in the context of telomerase activity and cellular ageing models, where much of the foundational work was published by Russian research groups from the 1980s onward. Researchers should note that a substantial part of that literature is older and not always available in English translation, which is worth accounting for in a review of sources.
